Comparison criteria
We compare the SFTPPlus MFT client licence with BatchSync V12 (version 12.7.1), using published capabilities rather than performance benchmarks.
Optional SFTPPlus MFT server and cluster licences are excluded.
Why choose SFTPPlus MFT
SFTPPlus MFT fits workflows that need Linux, macOS, containers, or native connections to SharePoint, Azure storage, Exchange Online, Oracle Database, and IBM MQ. Readable configuration and a perpetual licence suit teams that need those deployment and ownership options.
The optional server licence extends SFTPPlus MFT with server-side transfers, allowing trading partners to connect and send files to your installation. Combined with the client's AS2 sending, AS2 reception supports EDI file exchange in both directions, including signed and encrypted documents and delivery receipts.
With a cluster licence, you can manage multiple SFTPPlus MFT client instances from one unified web interface. The cluster controller distributes configuration updates and lets you assign different transfers to individual instances or groups of instances.
Choose SFTPPlus MFT when direct Windows desktop access is unavailable and administrators need to configure and operate transfers through a web browser. Its multi-role administration gives each administrator different permissions for application configuration and operation. For example, one administrator can monitor activity with read-only access, while another can manage transfers without changing accounts or security settings.
When BatchSync is a better fit
BatchSync has a lower first-year cost and provides two-way folder synchronization with deletion propagation.
Its Windows console includes a daily transfer dashboard, and its batch editor supports stepping through workflow commands.
These are useful advantages for Windows-only teams whose endpoints use only SFTP, FTP, FTPS, or network shares.
SFTPPlus MFT does not provide equivalent synchronization or interactive workflow debugging.
