Why choose SFTPPlus MFT over JSCAPE?

Both products provide secure, automated file transfer for organizations that need more control and auditability than a basic FTP server. This comparison uses the combined SFTPPlus server and client licence, which covers incoming file transfer services and outgoing transfer orchestration in one installation. It therefore includes scheduled transfers, server-to-server streaming, event-driven processing, PGP operations, and client transfer failover.

SFTPPlus MFT is a compact, self-contained application with a Python and C-based runtime. It does not require Java, a database, or a web application server. Its perpetual licence, included non-production instances, and lower estimated recurring cost make it a practical choice for organizations that want the core server and client capabilities without an enterprise subscription. Its single text configuration file, command-line tools, and APIs also make it suitable for repeatable deployments managed by IT and DevOps teams.

When JSCAPE is a better fit

JSCAPE is the better fit when a deployment requires OFTP2, TFTP, its proprietary AFTP protocol, or built-in ad hoc sharing links. Its visual workflow designer can be preferable for teams that want to build complex automation through a graphical interface. JSCAPE also supports SAML, AIX, Solaris, and built-in inbound load balancing.

For teams that do not need these JSCAPE-specific capabilities, SFTPPlus MFT provides comparable core server, client automation, security, clustering, and audit features with a simpler runtime and configuration-as-code support.

The JSCAPE information on this page is based on its MFT Server product information and published documentation.
