Initial support for AS2 was introduced in September 2020, as part of version 4.5.0. Since then we have worked to expand the set of supported AS2 features and increase the number of 3rd party AS2 vendors with which we perform continuous testing during our day to day development tasks.

AS2 is widely used for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) in a large variety of industries including Manufacturing, Retail, CPG and Logistics etc.

SFTPPlus can be used to exchange files over AS2 messages to any standard 3rd party AS2 server. We have successfully completed the Drummond Group AS2 testing for the fourth quarter of 2024.

AS2 testing partners ​

A total of fifteen (15) products achieved Drummond Certification. Participating companies included Amazon Web Services, Axway, Boomi LP, CData Software, Cleo, DXC Technology, E2open, Fortra LLC, IBM Corporation, and OpenText.

In addition to the mentioned participants, SFTPPlus is also tested using open source AS2 servers like Django AS2 (pyAS2) or Mendelson AS2.

At ProAtria our goal is to have SFTPPlus work with any other 3rd party AS2 implementation like IBM DataPower or JScape.

AS2 testing profiles ​

The legacy AS2 testing profile includes test over HTTP (without TLS) and with 3DES as the encryption algorithm.

SFTPPlus supports 3DES, AES-128, AES-192, and AES-256, with MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-2 digest algorithms.

The Advanced Transport AS2 testing profile requires participants to test using SSL for all message exchanges, SHA-2 digitally signed, and AES encrypted AS2 payloads. This is becoming the standard, if not the mandate in production AS2 message exchanges and provides the most secure payload transmission.
